Jaxon Kohler, a former Michigan State forward, is eligible to play for BYU in the upcoming 2026-27 season. This follows a California injunction granting him a fifth year of NCAA eligibility. Despite a recent ruling from the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals that blocks a federal extension of this eligibility for some seniors, Kohler’s status remains unaffected due to his separate state-level injunction. His case highlights ongoing NCAA eligibility disputes, as the organization intends to appeal state rulings that grant additional eligibility to athletes.
