Jaxon Smith-Njigba wears commemorative gold patch for Seahawks season opener

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is debuting a Topps Gold Shield on his jersey collar during the September 10 season-opening game against the New England Patriots. The league issues this gold emblem specifically to a select group of major award recipients. Smith-Njigba earned the honor following his 2025 performance, during which he was named the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year. During that season, the receiver recorded 119 catches for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns. Topps intends to acquire the game-worn jerseys featuring these gold patches for future use in a trading-card product line. The Seahawks enter the matchup looking for the receiver to lead the offensive production against the Patriots.
