Jaxson Hayes prepares for big role with Jazz in 2026-27 season

Summary

Jaxson Hayes, after three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, has signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Utah Jazz. With starting center Jusuf Nurkic sidelined for at least four weeks due to injury, Hayes is expected to take on a significant role early in the 2026-27 season. Hayes brings a strong offensive presence, particularly as a lob threat, and has developed chemistry with Jazz guards during preseason. Hayes emphasizes a 'next-man-up mentality,' drawing on his experience from his time with the Lakers. As he steps into this larger role, his performance could be pivotal for the Jazz in the opening weeks of the season.
