Jay Abernathy enters transfer portal from Tennessee baseball

Tennessee baseball utility player Jay Abernathy will enter the transfer portal as of June 2, making him the ninth player from the program to do so this cycle. A rising junior, Abernathy has been one of the team's key contributors, starting 39 games this season, primarily at second base and center field. He finished the season with a.236 batting average, three home runs, and led the team with nine stolen bases. Abernathy also started all four postseason games for Tennessee in the SEC and NCAA tournaments. Previously, he was a top-75 ranked prospect in the class of 2024.
