Jay and Central football prepare for inaugural FHSAA Independent League season

Jay and Central football teams gear up for competition in the FHSAA's new Independent League this fall. Both schools previously joined the Sunshine State Athletic Association before reverting to the Independent League, which aims to offer a more competitive environment. Central head coach Joe Surratt emphasized the importance of building on experience as the team seeks to improve from a 4-7 record last season. Jay head coach Brian Watson mentioned the team's considerable experience, with 16 seniors and nine returning starters, aiming for a strong postseason run after nearly reaching the Rural state playoffs last year. Playoff details include participation for the top eight teams from both divisions, culminating in a championship on December 4.
