Jay Leng captures Western Amateur title, eyes Walker Cup selection

Jay Leng of Stanford won the Western Amateur at Beverly Country Club on August 2, 2026. Leng triumphed after defeating the world’s No. 1 junior, Miles Russell, in the semifinals and Michael Riebe of Vanderbilt 5-and-4 in the final. His victory follows a strong summer that included a runner-up finish at the Northeast Amateur and a tie for fifth at the Southern Amateur. The Western Amateur is one of the most prestigious events in amateur golf and adds to Leng's resume as he seeks a spot on the Walker Cup team, which will be finalized after the U.S. Amateur starting August 10.
