Jayden Daniels demands LSU stop using his image after jersey number controversy

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is reportedly filing legal action against Louisiana State University (LSU) after the school assigned his former No. 5 jersey to current cornerback DJ Pickett. Daniels' attorney sent a cease-and-desist letter on August 5, stating that the university cannot use his name, image, or likeness. The No. 5 jersey has not been worn by any player since Daniels, who became LSU's third Heisman Trophy winner in 2023. Daniels' family expressed disappointment over LSU's decision, feeling it disrespected his legacy. LSU coach Lane Kiffin noted that Pickett was promised the number during his recruitment in 2024, leading to the current conflict. LSU has yet to respond to the cease-and-desist letter.
