Jayden DeLeon sets meet record in men's 400 at U20 championships

At the World Athletics U20 Championships on August 7 in Eugene, Oregon, Jayden DeLeon won the men's 400 meters, setting a new meet record of 44.47 seconds. He overcame a late challenge from Quincy Wilson, who clocked a season-best time of 44.62 for silver. Leedert Koekemoer of South Africa took bronze with a time of 44.96. Le’Ezra Brown broke the American U20 record in the 110 hurdles during preliminaries and semifinals. Michael-Andre Matthew Edwards triumphed in a dramatic men's triple jump finish over Mile Nesmith, taking gold with a mark of 56 feet, ½ inch. Both Tate Taylor and Mia Maxwell advanced to the finals in the 200 meters.
