Jayden Lockhart shines in Vero Beach's preseason win over Cardinal Newman

Jayden Lockhart scored two touchdowns as Vero Beach High defeated Cardinal Newman 28-7 in the FHSAA Preseason Classic on August 14 at the Citrus Bowl. Lockhart, a recent transfer, made an instant impact by scoring on Vero Beach's first two drives. Cardinal Newman managed only one touchdown, a pass from Pedro Martinez to Logan Stepp, while suffering a tough defeat. Vero Beach quarterback Wonderful Monds IV threw for 213 yards, and the team's defense held Cardinal Newman to 169 total yards. Both teams will begin their regular seasons soon, with Vero Beach facing Jensen Beach High on August 21.
