Jayden Stephens receives Johnny Bench Award as Indiana's top catcher

Edgewood High School's Jayden Stephens was awarded the Johnny Bench Award as Indiana's top softball catcher. The award recognizes outstanding high school baseball and softball catchers from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. Stephens will be honored at a luncheon on July 7 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, where winners will be acknowledged before a Reds game that evening. The award, established in 2000, is named after Hall of Famer Johnny Bench and includes input from the Reds' scouting department for evaluation criteria. Other local athletes and teams received various honors, including All-State and Academic All-State recognitions.
