He suggested this interference affected his own attempts to recruit other players for his Black Wall Street project. Brown also criticized media figures Stephen A. Smith and Colin Cowherd, specifically accusing Cowherd of promoting negative narratives about his character on behalf of corporate interests. While Brown has received civic honors in Massachusetts, including a key to the city, he has not yet won the NBA Bob Lanier Community Assist Award. The comments follow Brown's recent transition from the Boston Celtics to the 76ers after a summer trade.
