Jeff Bourne's hires at JMU spark coaching success at CFB programs

Jeff Bourne, former athletic director at James Madison University, is credited with hiring Curt Cignetti and Bob Chesney, who are achieving notable success in college football. Cignetti led JMU to national championships before moving to Indiana, while Chesney recently guided UCLA to a 5-0 start after defeating Oregon. Bourne emphasized the importance of hiring experienced head coaches during JMU's transition to the FBS. He believes a head coach must possess strong skill sets and a successful track record. Under Bourne’s leadership, JMU football thrived, winning two FCS national championships and achieving an 8-3 record last season in the Sun Belt East.
