Jeff Jarrett criticizes Hulk Hogan for TNA's financial struggles

The episode entitled “Jeff Jarrett and the Battle for TNA – Part III” aired on Vice TV earlier this week and concluded the show’s chronicling of the promotion Jarrett helped create. Hogan signed with TNA in late 2009 alongside Eric Bischoff and debuted in the company in January 2010. Along with wrestling the final matches of his career for TNA, Hogan also served as a creative consultant. He and Bischoff were said to have great influence over then-TNA president Dixie Carter, who Jarrett also criticized on Dark Side of the Ring. “They didn’t know the TNA audience,” Jarrett said after stating that Hogan wanted to entirely rebrand TNA. Jeff said he knew the drastic changes Hulk wanted to make would be a “massive failure.” View this post on Instagram “From the day Hulk came in, it was less than 12 months that we went from profitability to financial death spiral,” Jarrett said on the program. During Hogan’s tenure in TNA, the promotion signed several older stars from WWE and WCW, as well as moved its flagship show, Impact!, to Monday nights to directly compete with Raw. The show was moved back to Thursdays less than two months later due to declining ratings. Jarrett took aim at Dixie, Hulk, and Eric at one point on Dark Side while discussing an infamous 2013 segment which saw Carter begging Hogan to stay with TNA. “What an incredible masterpiece of a job that Hulk and Eric, and whoever else was involved, convinced her to do that,” Jarrett said. “I would’ve never done that if I was Dixie. It said everything about her knowledge of the industry.” He also addressed another notorious on-air segment that saw Carter speaking to the wrestling talent and telling them to either support her or find someplace else to work. Commenting on the moment on Dark Side, former TNA producer David Sahadi said the locker room turned on her because of the speech. “When you question things about this company, you question me,” Carter said during the segment. “I can’t allow that to happen.” About the moment, Jarret said on Dark Side: “It was not about anything other than her ego. You can go back and look at the faces. Talent really understood, ‘This is who we’re working for.’ A lot of them, including myself, ‘Where do things go now?’” What do you think about Jarrett’s comments, Cagesiders?
