Jefferson-Wooden, Richardson shine at U.S. Track and Field Championships

Champions were crowned at the 2026 USA Track and Field National Championships in New York City, the first time in 35 years the event has been held there. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the women's 200 with a season-best time of 21.69 seconds. Sha'Carri Richardson claimed the women's 100 title, marking her third national championship in that event. Noah Lyles took the men's 100 but suffered a cramp during the 200. Teenager Cooper Lutkenhaus won the men's 800, while Christopher Robinson claimed gold in the 400 hurdles. The championships are seen as crucial for athletes ahead of the 2027 World Championships and the 2028 Olympics.
