Jerry Jones discusses contract future for Joey Porter Jr. after trade

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed a desire to retain cornerback Joey Porter Jr. beyond this season, following a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cowboys acquired Porter in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick, ending his contract standoff. Jones suggested that any future contract extension would require mutual agreement, stating, "it takes two to tango here." Porter, who has not played this season due to injury, is reportedly keen to join the Cowboys, the team he preferred during negotiations. The Cowboys also gain the ability to franchise-tag Porter in 2027.
