Jhon Durán joins Benfica on loan after turbulent club switches

Summary

Jhon Durán has officially joined Benfica on loan from Al Nassr, marking his seventh club change at just 22 years old. He has previously played for Envigado, Chicago Fire, Aston Villa, and had loan spells at Fenerbahçe and Zenit St. Petersburg. Al Nassr acquired Durán in January 2025 for approximately €77 million, but he struggled to establish himself, making only 18 appearances. Durán's repeated club transitions may be linked to health issues, including osteoarthritis, and he has faced criticism regarding his conduct off the field. Benfica's management views this loan as an opportunity to bolster their attack, and Durán appears optimistic about his future there.
