Jim Starnes secured his first Golfweek tournament victory at the Mountain Man event in North Carolina on August 5. Competing in the Super Senior division, Starnes recorded rounds of 74-76-76, finishing at 10 over par, three strokes ahead of runner-up Bob Easterlin. After years of successful performances but no Golfweek win, the 69-year-old putted effectively and managed to recover from mistakes during the final round. Starnes plans to continue competing, with his next event set for August 10 at Pinehurst for the North & South Senior.
