Jimmie Johnson will make his last NASCAR Cup Series appearance in the iconic No. 48 during the 2027 Daytona 500. Johnson, a seven-time champion, announced this decision while expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to drive the car that defined his career. He co-owns Legacy Motor Club and has raced part-time since 2023, driving the No. 84. Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motorsports confirmed the collaboration, stating bringing Johnson back for a final race felt right. Alex Bowman, who will also end his full-time career in 2027, will drive a different number for the Daytona event but return to No. 48 later in the season.
