J.J. McCarthy secures spot on the Minnesota Vikings 53-man roster

The Minnesota Vikings have placed quarterback J.J. McCarthy on the team's initial 53-man roster. While Kyler Murray secured the starting quarterback position earlier this summer, McCarthy remains with the team heading into the season. Head coach Kevin O'Connell considered carrying four quarterbacks on the active roster throughout the preseason training camp. Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer, who both started games for the team last season, also remained with the squad through the summer. The team now prepares for its upcoming season opener against the Green Bay Packers. The final depth chart for the quarterback position will be established as the team nears that matchup.
