Joe Root sets Test cricket record for most fifties against Pakistan

England captain Joe Root recorded his 69th Test cricket fifty on Saturday to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 68. The milestone occurred during the third Test at Edgbaston, where England chased down a target of 130 to secure an eight-wicket victory over Pakistan. Root finished the match unbeaten on 62 from 69 deliveries, sealing a 3-0 series whitewash for England. In addition to the record, Root became the first player to accumulate over 1,000 Test runs at four different venues. The achievement adds to his previous performances at Lord’s, Manchester, and The Oval. England previously secured victories in the first two matches of the series at Headingley and Lord’s to set up the sweep.
