John Cena discusses tapping out to GUNTHER in WWE Unreal

I’m piggybacking just a little bit on M. GOMEZ’s post on AJ Styles weighing in on WWE “dropping the ball” with GUNTHER because I saw a video floating around on social media of the latest season of WWE Unreal that I made me realize just how badly they really are dropping the ball. Said video, for however long it may last: “I knew i was wrestling Gunther for my final match before i knew about Brock” Cena: “Oh wow that means i get to tap” Triple H: “You would do that?” Cena: “Yeah it’s perfect the Never Give Up guy taps out” pic.twitter.com/NTrYn4lukj — FADE (@FadeAwayMedia) July 21, 2026 In that video, John Cena goes over how he wants to tap out to GUNTHER in the final match of his professional wrestling career. Triple H, while talking to the man who is going to make him tap, tries to impress upon The Ring General the importance of what is going to happen. “Look, he’s giving you a f**king… he’s giving you a f**king hell of a rub here and a gift, so just f**king take advantage,” Triple H can be heard saying. “I want to protect it too,” GUNTHER responds. Everyone seems to have an understanding. Fast forward to today and while Styles defended WWE creative, he was also willing to say what is plainly true — the company has indeed dropped the ball here. This man went from retiring Goldberg, Cena, and Styles to working one of the biggest shows of the year against a damn General Manager? No disrespect to Nick Aldis but what are we actually doing here? There are only two top titles, and I totally understand running Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins and CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes but this is really the best they could do for GUNTHER here? Is anyone else feeling like this is insane?
