John Hunter Nemechek will not return to Legacy Motor Club for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. Nemechek, who currently drives the No. 42 Toyota, is finishing his third full-time season with the organization. He holds the 27th position in the current Cup Series points standings. Reports indicate Josh Berry is the primary candidate to replace Nemechek in the No. 42 car for the upcoming year. Berry currently competes for Wood Brothers Racing in the No. 21 Ford, though he is set to be replaced by Jesse Love in 2027. Berry has recently earned five consecutive top-10 finishes, including two top-five results.
