John Rice is the only player drafted by Celtics from UMass Boston

The Boston Celtics have historically utilized the NBA draft to acquire talent throughout the organization's existence. While the franchise has selected players from a wide range of collegiate programs, including elite institutions and smaller schools, the University of Massachusetts Boston has provided exactly one draft selection in team history. The Celtics selected guard John Rice in the ninth round of the 1983 NBA draft as the 205th overall pick.
