Jon Berti announces retirement after 15-year professional baseball career

Longtime MLB infielder Jon Berti has officially retired from professional baseball after 15 seasons. Berti, who spent his 2024 campaign with the New York Yankees, identified his time during the team’s World Series run as the defining memory of his career. Despite a tenure in New York limited by a left calf strain, he appeared in 25 games and provided defensive versatility, including a postseason start at first base against the Kansas City Royals. The infielder previously played for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Miami Marlins before his move to the Bronx. After the Yankees non-tendered him in November 2024, Berti signed with the Chicago Cubs prior to his decision to end his professional career. He finished his stint with the Yankees recording one home run, six RBIs, and five stolen bases.
