Jonathan Davenport addresses mechanical issues following Mansfield Speedway test
Summary

Jonathan Davenport tested his race car at Mansfield Speedway on July 4, completing seven laps before a rainstorm halted the program. He had traveled 1,000 miles from Norman County Raceway in Minnesota to identify and resolve a mechanical issue that hindered his performance in previous races. Confident in the fixes, Davenport and his Double L Motorsports team opted to skip the next scheduled event at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio. Despite the challenging stretch in the Upper Midwest, which included a single top-five finish, he believes the car's improved condition will enhance future performances.

What they're saying

Jonathan Davenport didn’t envision making the 1,000-mile trek from Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., only to complete seven laps Friday at Mansfield Speedway. Although a torrential rainstorm washed out Friday's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series program at Mansfield — abruptly arriving on lap four of the third heat race with Davenport comfortably out front — the Blairsville, Ga., veteran packed up convinced those problems had been solved. In fact, Davenport and his Double L team were so confident in the fix that they’ve decided to forgo Saturday's Lucas Oil event at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio, and head home a day early.
