Jorge Polanco returns to Mets from injured list

Jorge Polanco has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list, the New York Mets announced on July 7, 2026. Polanco, sidelined for nearly three months due to Achilles bursitis, resumed rehabilitation games on June 27. He recorded two home runs in his past three rehab games. Now cleared to play, he will serve solely as a designated hitter. To accommodate his return, the Mets optioned Ronny Mauricio back to Triple-A Syracuse and designated pitchers Alex Carrillo and Guillermo Zuñiga for assignment. Meanwhile, Luis Robert Jr. is transitioning to Double-A for his rehab assignment, and Mike Tauchman has started a rehab stint in the Florida Complex League.
