Jose Altuve records 2,500th career hit in Astros game against Phillies

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve reached a career milestone Wednesday night by recording his 2,500th hit. The 36-year-old achieved the mark with a third-inning double against Philadelphia starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez at Citizens Bank Park. Altuve is the 103rd player in major league history to reach the total and is currently one of only two active players to have done so, joining Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He entered the game looking for the hit after going hitless in the Tuesday series opener.
