Josef Samael returns as leader of Contra in MLW Fusion

The Contra Unit is the cockroach of MLW. It never dies. Just when it appeared that Contra was without a leader after Mads Krugger dumped the funky bunch, vibrations sent a serpent to fill the void of power. That serpent was revealed to be Josef Samael. On the latest episode of MLW Fusion, Krugger battled Big Damo (aka Killian Dain) in a hoss fight. Damo was heading toward victory on the Vader Bomb. Krugger countered that maneuver by goozling Damo’s throat for a chokeslam. That’s when chaos was unleashed. Contra members rushed to the ring. Cameras showed masked goons attacking Shotzi Blackheart and the Good Brothers outside. Krugger was able to handle himself well enough, then the lights went out. Fireball! Lights on to reveal the return of Josef Samael as the serpent of Contra. Samael stood tall with the motley crew of Ikuro Kwon, Kushida, Okumura, Kanaga, and Big Damo. THE BLACK FLAG RISES OVER MLW!! It wasn’t long before they formed the Contra Unit stable. Samael managed Fatu to winning the MLW world title. On the indies, that duo also captured tag team titles in PCW, APW, and DEFY. Eventually, Fatu outgrew the Contra mission, and he split from Samael. The rest is history with Fatu heading to WWE and Samael fading away from MLW. Samael’s return to MLW is an intriguing development. He has the gift of gab on the mic with rhythm and rhyme. When Samael speaks, he sounds believable in the context of professional wrestling insanity. Samael is scheduled to make a grand proclamation this Saturday on the Blood & Thunder special of MLW Fusion.
