Josh Downs expected to lead Indianapolis Colts receivers this season

Summary

ESPN analyst Dan Graziano projects Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs to lead the team in receiving yards for the 2026 season. With Michael Pittman now playing for Pittsburgh, vacated targets have created a larger role for the receiver. The team plans to move Josh Downs outside more frequently to create opportunities on intermediate and downfield routes. During training camp, Alec Pierce was sidelined, limiting the coaching staff's ability to integrate his expected expanded role into the offense. General manager Chris Ballard expressed confidence in Josh Downs' potential, citing his history as an efficient option on third downs. Tight end Tyler Warren is also expected to contribute to the passing attack this season as the Colts adjust their offensive scheme.
