Joshua Baez shows promise for Cardinals at Triple-A Memphis

Summary

Joshua Baez hit 17 home runs at Triple-A Memphis, the most for any St. Louis Cardinals player this season. The 22-year-old outfielder also has 11 stolen bases and is playing well defensively. Despite his impressive performance, including a previous season where he hit 20 homers and stole 54 bases, the Cardinals remain cautious about promoting him too soon. Team officials emphasize the importance of Baez developing his pitch recognition and mastering the strike zone during his time in the minors. His progress is being closely monitored following a slow start after recovering from wrist surgery in 2022.
