Joshua Zirkzee faces potential January transfer from Manchester United

Joshua Zirkzee remains an unused substitute at Manchester United after three consecutive matches. The forward did not feature in the recent squad trip to face Everton, where Mason Mount returned to the matchday group. Journalist Tyrone Marshall noted that Zirkzee’s continued presence at Old Trafford is currently limiting opportunities for young talent Shea Lacey. During the summer transfer window, Zirkzee received offers from Juventus and Fiorentina but remained in Manchester. Everton also approached United for the player on deadline day, but the club declined the move due to insufficient time to recruit a replacement. Zirkzee has yet to make an appearance during the 2026/2027 season. Michael Carrick may consider using him during Thursday’s Champions League opener against Sabah, though he is expected to remain on the bench for Sunday’s Manchester derby.
