Jovana Nogić suspended by Mercury, continues career in Russia

Phoenix Mercury guard Jovana Nogić's contract has been suspended as she will pursue her career overseas in Russia. The team announced the suspension on June 20, shortly after she last played on June 17. Nogić is expected to lead the Serbian national team in the EuroBasket 2027 qualifiers this summer. Head coach Nate Tibbetts indicated that her departure was for personal reasons. With Nogić’s absence, the Mercury have adjusted their roster, including re-signing guard Shay Ciezki. Despite challenges, Phoenix won three of their last four games before her suspension.
