Juice Scruggs takes over as starting center for the Lions

Juice Scruggs will start at center for the Lions in Sunday’s game against the Saints. Scruggs originally joined the team in March as part of the trade that sent running back David Montgomery to the Texans. Although he was initially viewed as a depth addition, the center role opened up following a season-ending wrist injury to Cade Mays. Scruggs spent much of the offseason working as a guard but has since shifted his preparation to anchor the offensive line. Having previously started eight games at center for Houston, he expressed increased comfort with the responsibility after a period of acclimation. He now prepares to fill the vacancy as the Lions look to manage their lineup changes early in the season.
