Julian Edelman projects big role for A.J. Brown in New England offense

Julian Edelman expects wide receiver A.J. Brown to record a significant workload during his debut season with the New England Patriots. Citing offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels' history of prioritizing marquee receivers, Edelman pointed to the high target counts previously seen by players such as Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Davante Adams, and Brandon Marshall. The Patriots acquired Brown on June 1 in exchange for a 2028 first-round draft pick and a 2027 fifth-round selection to bolster the passing game for quarterback Drake Maye. Last season with the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown recorded 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns on 121 targets. Brown is scheduled to make his first regular-season appearance for the team in the upcoming opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
