Julian Weber captures gold in javelin at European Championships

Julian Weber won the javelin gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on August 15, 2026. His winning throw of 90.40 meters came on his final attempt, successfully defending his title from Munich four years prior. Despite ongoing shoulder issues, Weber edged out teammate Nick Thumm, who finished with 83.76 meters, while Latvia's Patriks Gallums secured bronze with 82.97 meters. Weber began competing mid-July after struggling with injuries earlier in the season.
