Junior quarterback Calvin Cosby leads Gaylord to victory over Escanaba

Gaylord junior quarterback Calvin Cosby guided his team to a 35-25 victory over Escanaba in Week 2 action. Despite trailing 17-7 at halftime and throwing two interceptions in the first half, Cosby directed a high-scoring second half for the Blue Devils. This win marks the team's first of the season following a Week 1 loss to North Branch. Cosby, who also serves as a standout pole vaulter for the school, took over lead duties for a young Gaylord offense that features many new starters. Head coach Matt Silsbury credited the team’s maturation and focus during the second half for the turnaround. Gaylord now holds a 1-0 record in Big North Conference play with remaining goals to compete for a league title and a playoff spot.
