Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert enters the 2026 season with the potential to reach a significant milestone. NFL analysts project the passer may record over 5,000 yards, which would place him alongside Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes as the only players in league history to accomplish the feat in multiple seasons. Herbert previously cleared the 5,000-yard mark in 2021 when he recorded 5,014 passing yards. The offense now operates under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, who aims to integrate Herbert with a balanced rushing attack led by running back Omarion Hampton. While the passing milestone remains a primary statistical focus for analysts, the team expects to prioritize a versatile offense to secure more victories this season. Herbert previously reached a career-high of 38 touchdown passes during his 2021 campaign.
