Justin Steele makes rehab appearance as Cubs minor league teams play

Chicago Cubs pitcher Justin Steele made his first official appearance in over a year during a rehab start for the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday. Steele pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts while throwing 36 pitches. The Iowa Cubs ultimately fell to the Columbus Clippers 6-2. Elsewhere in the organization, the South Bend Cubs defeated the Cedar Rapids Kernels 4-3 behind a three-run home run from Justin Stransky and a save from JP Wheat. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans beat the Columbia Fireflies 6-2, led by a five-RBI performance from Caden Sorrell. Meanwhile, the Knoxville Smokies lost 5-1 to the Chattanooga Lookouts despite Brody McCullough delivering five scoreless innings with ten strikeouts.
