Kaia Bennett named top spring athlete in Fort Collins area

Kaia Bennett of Rocky Mountain High School won the title of top spring girls athlete in the Fort Collins area, as revealed in the Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week voting. Bennett secured the Colorado Class 5A discus state championship with a throw of 130 feet, 9 inches, and also finished runner-up in the shot put. She ended her senior season with top-five finishes in 11 of 12 discus events and success in shot put competitions. The voting saw Bennett garner 38.2% of the votes, surpassing four other nominees, including runner-up Addyson Smith with 26.1%. Voting will continue through June for the overall top athletes of the 2025-26 school year.
