The Atlanta Braves selected Kaiden McCarthy from Vermont in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 11, marking a significant achievement as he is the highest ever draft pick from the state. McCarthy, a Chester native, had a standout high school season with a 3-0 record and a 0.72 ERA at Vermont Academy, amassing 42 strikeouts.
