Kalvin Phillips returns to Sheffield United on loan from Manchester City

Kalvin Phillips is set to rejoin Sheffield United in a loan move from Manchester City. Phillips, who has not played for City since 2023, has two years remaining on his contract. He previously played for Sheffield United during the second half of last season but made just three appearances before a red card and subsequent injury sidelined him. The loan comes as Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder seeks reinforcement in midfield amid the potential departure of Gustavo Hamer to Coventry City. Phillips has struggled for playing time at City, starting merely two league games since his signing from Leeds for £42.5 million in 2022, despite having 31 caps for England.
