Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Josh Simmons missed the team's first practice session for the Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos on Thursday, September 10. Head coach Andy Reid confirmed that Simmons is dealing with a back injury and indicated it is unlikely the player will participate in the September 14 home opener. The team is currently preparing for its primetime matchup against Denver without the former first-round pick. If Simmons is unable to play, the Chiefs are expected to rely on rookie offensive lineman Kahlil Benson to fill the role. Benson is currently listed as the second-string left tackle on the Kansas City depth chart.
