Kansas State prepares true freshman long snapper Sam Dolphens for season

With four days remaining until the 2026 college football season, Kansas State has integrated true freshman Sam Dolphens into its roster. The 5-foot-11, 211-pound long snapper enrolled this summer after graduating from Papillion-La Vista High School South in Nebraska. Currently holding a co-second team projection, Dolphens is competing against Jaxson Duffield for the backup position behind Andrew Johnson. Rated as the fourth-best long snapper in the 2026 class by Kohl’s Kicking, he brings experience from high school where he earned first-team all-state honors. Dolphens chose to join the Wildcats over offers from programs including Auburn, while maintaining interest from Nebraska and Kansas. He joins the team on scholarship and plans to pursue a degree in geography.
