Karim Benzema considered a return to Olympique Lyonnais during the recent summer transfer window. Despite this mutual interest, the potential move failed to materialize because Benzema remained under contract with Al-Hilal at that time. Additionally, his standing commitment to serve as an ambassador for the Saudi league until 2030 presented a formal barrier to a transfer to another country. While he has since been released from his contract with the Saudi side, the window for a reunion with his former club has closed. Benzema previously helped Olympique Lyonnais secure four league titles before departing for Real Madrid in 2009.
