Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart consider pay cuts to aid Knicks

Summary

The New York Knicks are exploring strategies to maintain their championship core amid the financial constraints of the NBA salary cap and second apron. Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart are candidates to sign contract extensions at values below their maximum eligibility, similar to the approach used by Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Towns is scheduled to earn over $57 million for the 2026-27 season, while Hart is set for a $20.9 million salary. Discussions regarding these potential discounts are ongoing as the front office evaluates its long-term financial commitment to the roster. The team aims to sustain its competitive standing while managing payroll obligations alongside Jalen Brunson's leadership.
