Karr and Westgate retain top spots in LSWA Week 5 football poll

The Louisiana Sports Writers Association released its Week 5 football poll on October 5, 2026, confirming that Karr and Westgate maintained their No. 1 rankings in Class 5A and Class 4A, respectively. Karr and Westgate both improved their records to 5-0 with victories. Jesuit climbed back into the Class 5A rankings, replacing West Monroe, which fell out after a loss. In Class 4A, Lafayette Renaissance and Plaquemine entered the rankings at the bottom. Overall, the poll saw minimal changes, with no newcomers in Classes 3A, 2A, or 1A, despite Logansport holding onto its position after a loss.
