Kate Douglass sets 50m freestyle world record at Indy Pro Swim

Kate Douglass broke the women's 50m freestyle world record at the Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis on June 19, clocking 23.59 seconds. She surpassed Sarah Sjöström's previous record of 23.61 seconds, set in 2023. Douglass's new mark also improved her personal best of 23.91 seconds, previously the American record she shared with Gretchen Walsh. Walsh finished second with a time of 23.78 seconds, making her the fifth-fastest performer ever. Anna Moesch placed third in 24.20 seconds. Douglass's record makes her the first American woman to hold the 50m freestyle world record in 40 years.
