Katherine Breed to swim entire California coastline starting July 1

Katherine Breed, a Bay Area endurance swimmer, is set to begin her historic attempt to swim approximately 900 miles of California's coastline starting July 1. Breed will enter the Pacific Ocean at the Oregon border and plans to swim about 10 to 15 miles daily. Her expedition, termed "Swim California," is aimed at raising awareness of ocean conservation and coastal communities. Over three years in planning, the expedition will be supported by a team and a 52-foot sailboat. Weather conditions could extend the journey, which Breed expects to take at least three months.
