Kenneth Walker III among top NFL MVP candidates in 2026

As the NFL season approaches its midpoint, running backs are vying for MVP honors, a title typically dominated by quarterbacks. Kenneth Walker III of the Kansas City Chiefs stands out as a candidate, currently ranking second in rushing yards with 701, aiding his team's strong 5-1 start. Alongside him, Bijan Robinson leads the league in rushing with 704 yards. The changing dynamics of the MVP race raise questions about traditional voting patterns favoring quarterbacks, especially if running backs achieve notable team success. The ongoing season may challenge the historical precedence of quarterback recognition in MVP voting.
