Kent State promotes Cherokee Valeria and Bart Tanski to new coaching roles

Kent State has announced the promotion of assistant coaches Cherokee Valeria and Bart Tanski for the upcoming season. Valeria, previously the defensive coordinator and safeties coach, has been elevated to assistant head coach. Tanski, who served as the cornerbacks coach, will take on the role of defensive recruiting coordinator. Both coaches joined head coach Mark Carney's staff in 2025, with Valeria transitioning from defensive backs coach and Tanski recognized for his past achievements as Ohio’s Mr. Football in 2007. These changes aim to strengthen the team's coaching dynamics as they prepare for the season ahead.
